The other day came a photo revealing that actors Mikaela Hoover and newcomer Christopher McDonald have joined the cast of James Gunn’s “Superman”.
Gunn himself posted the photo showing the pair alongside co-stars Nathan Fillion and Skyler Gisondo. Now, the nature of their roles has been revealed.
THR reports that Hoover is playing Cat Grant, the gossip columnist with her eyes set on Kent. The character has appeared in several TV shows, most famously played by Tracy Scoggins in “Lois & Clark” and Calista Flockhart in “Supergirl”.
Meanwhile, McDonald is playing Ron Troupe, one of the best reporters in the Daily Planet newsroom. In the comics, he ends up having a son with Lois Lane’s sister Lucy Lane.
The news follows on from Beck Bennett being cast as blowhard and self-serving reporter Steve Lombardo in the film, Gunn obviously filling out the Daily Planet newsroom.
The film is currently in production in Atlanta with David Corenswet starring as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.
“Superman” has a release date of July 11th 2025.
