It has taken eight years, but finally a new “Batman: Arkham” game is coming this Fall with the VR title “Batman: Arkham Shadow”.
Set for release exclusively on the Meta Quest 3 later in 2024, the game is being developed by Camouflaj (“Iron Man VR”) and Oculus Studios in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC.
The game is set prior to the events of ‘Arkham Asylum’ but before the events of ‘Arkham Origins’. Roger Craig Smith, who voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman in ‘Origins’, reprises the role here. The late Kevin Conroy portrayed the voice in the three other ‘Arkham’ games.
Early versions of characters like Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, Two-Face, Ratcatcher and Jim Gordon will appear in the title which has several Rocksteady veterans working on it full time.
The story trailer launch today comes just three months after the release of “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” by “Batman: Arkham” series creator Rocksteady which became a high-profile flop.
The last “Batman: Arkham” game released by Rocksteady was “Batman: Arkham VR” in 2016, their last major all platform title being “Batman: Arkham Knight” in 2015.
