Bento Box Entertainment (“Krapopolis,” “Grimsburg”) has confirmed it is in development of two new shows based on the famed 1950s-born character Gumby.
The two shows will include the kid-friendly “Gumby Kids” as well as an adult animated version. Specifics of the latter are being kept under wraps for now.
Deeki Deke (“The Cuphead Show!”) will head the writer’s team for “Gumby Kids” which will be up at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. It will be a 52-part series consisting of 11-minute episodes and catered to minors aged 8-12.
The story centers on Gumbtasia’s city planner and friendly architect Gumby, an adaptable shapeshifter whose goal is to create an environment suitable for everybody – even this city of outcasts and misfits .
Other characters include “Pokey, Prickle, a cranky half dragon, half dinosaur, Goo, an open-minded and free-spirited flying blue mermaid and The Blockheads”.
Deke will also executive produce alongside Stephen Davis and Will Davis.
