“Creed” and “Black Panther” star Michael B. Jordan has offered an update on how the sequel to 2007’s “I Am Legend” is going.
Jordan will team up with the original film’s star Will Smith for the follow-up to the Francis Lawrence directed hit which grossed $585 million worldwide.
Though a sequel has long been in the works, with Jordan attached since 2021, the project hasn’t picked up steam until the past year or so. At last report in December, Smith said a script had just come in.
Now, Jordan tells People that script work is still ongoing:
“We’re still working on the script and getting that up to par. It doesn’t have a release date or anything like that. I’m not sure exactly where we’re going to be filming that one, but I’m really excited to get in front of the camera with him.
Being somebody that I’ve looked up to for a really long time, to be able to work with Will is something I’m really looking forward to. I’m really excited.”
Based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name, Smith starred in the original as Robert Neville, a scientist living in a world in which a disease turned humans into zombie-like creatures and left him as one of the world’s lone survivors.
Smith will be back on the big screen this weekend with “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” opening in cinemas on Friday.
