Once more shall the halls of LMO reverberate to the sound of debate! After the events of this week, the commentariat across the globe is locked in debate about the actual law of the United States, while journalists everywhere debate if the phrase “Banana Republic” should be capitalized.

Here at Last Movie Outpost, we prefer to keep debate at least tenuously linked to the matter at hand – that of movies, streaming, entertainment, and the industries in which they exist. So we are instead going to debate perception.

Specifically movies or entertainment that challenge your perception and leave things open to alternative interpretation.

What do we mean? Well, perhaps the most famous of these is Blade Runner, and the interpretation some have is that Deckard is, in fact, a replicant and the same as the machines he is hunting.

Now, we have done this one to death with a thousand comments across a hundred movie websites. But there are other examples.

“Replicant, my arse!”

Is the High Plains Drifter really the vengeful spirit of the slain sheriff? Is Bruce really alive at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, or is Alfred simply imagining what he would like to see in the Italian cafe?

What are the different interpretations in movies that you personally subscribe to? Which ones are complete bullshit?

Maybe we could finally settle what the actual fuck really does happen at the end of Donnie Darko? There is only one way to sort all this out… FIGHT!
