There’s just a few more days until “Star Wars: The Acolyte” premieres on the Disney+ service and details of one element kept under wraps has emerged.
Creator Leslye Headland has revealed that a brand-new lightsaber was made for the upcoming show, not to be confused with the already glimpsed lightwhip in the trailer promos.
Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes, she says when she initially brought the proposal of the new lightsaber to the prop department, they told her it wouldn’t work. She persisted though and ultimately the new lightsaber was made.
It’s not clear if this is the same as the pre-existing ‘shoto blade’ that will be used by Dafne Keen’s young Padawan Jecki Lon. Keen tells Empire that custom shorter blade was made for her because her 5’2 height meant a regular saber made her look “like I was skiing”.
The series takes place during the High Republic, decades before the Skywalker Saga, as the Jedi investigate mysterious murders and the rise of the Sith from the shadows.
Amandla Stenberg, Carrie-Anne Moss and Lee Jung-jae star in the series which will have a two-episode premiere on June 4th.
