Reshoots on Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: Brave New World” are expected to run for 22 days according to a new piece in THR.
Additional photography on the fourth ‘Cap’ film kicked off again this week in Atlanta with Giancarlo Esposito now confirmed to be joining the cast as part of this new shoot.
Esposito has been hinting for a few weeks about his involvement in a Marvel Studios project, and now he’s confirmed to be officially on the call sheet in an undisclosed villainous role.
In fact, set photos have emerged of the actor’s double on the set decked out in gear suggesting a character with military experience – black long sleeve T-shirt, olive green pants, all sorts of combat weaponry including knives, guns and a mini-axe.
Amongst the added elements in the reshoots will be some new action sequences with as many as three rumored. Julius Onah remains onboard as director.
Despite being able to wrap principal photography right before the strikes, post-production was hampered and delayed whilst online reports suggested the film tested poorly and needed a bit of an overhaul.
After pushing the film more than half a year, Marvel was able to work out what they needed from the reshoots and hired Matthew Orton (“Moon Knight”) to work on the script.
The trade indicates despite reports of multiple reshoots, this is the only additional photography done for the film so far. In addition they are nowhere near as expensive or extensive as those which “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” or “The Marvels” endured.
In addition it’s expected the film will cost significantly less than other recent Marvel fare. Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez and Rosa Salazar star in the film opening February next year.
