Ripley, Spectre, and All of Us Strangers star Andrew Scott has joined the third Knives Out movie. He joins the already-announced Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny.
Tom Hardy and Lindsay Lohan are also rumored to be appearing but are yet to be confirmed. Additionally, Rian Johnson has announced the title will be Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc, and the usual formula will be followed as the detective finds himself embroiled in a new Agatha Christie-style murder mystery and faced with an array of weird and wonderful characters as suspects.
Johnson and Ram Bergman are producing the film for Netflix and production is set for this summer.
Knives Out was such a hit that Netflix paid Rian Johnson $450 million for two sequels. This was under the previous regime at Netflix. The new regime is said to be considerably more careful with their expenditure.
The first movie had a theatrical release and was highly successful as counter-programming. It landed in a theatrical season saturated with family blockbusters such as Frozen II. It earned $165.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $147.5 million overseas for a worldwide total of $312.9 million.
Knives Out 3 is expected to land on the streamer in 2025.
