Fancy fighting off the Wet Bandits for yourself?  Well, you can, and all you will need is a fairly massive stack of cash. The house where Kevin McCallister was left Home Alone is on sale.

The five-bed, six-bathroom mansion in Winnetka, Illinois has been put on the market for $ 5.25 million. That is £4.1 million of your Royal British pounds.

It is listed with American real estate agents The Dawn Mckenna Group and has undergone some impressive renovations since the Chris Columbus-directed 1990 comedy classic made the house famous. The current owners have doubled the living space with the addition of a large conservatory and built a state-of-the-art basketball court.

The listing refers to the Home Alone house as “one of the most famous houses in the world”. It features two living rooms, a large kitchen, a three-car garage, and still has the staircase that Macaulay Culkin rode down on a sledge.

Back in 2021 it was listed on Airbnb for single-night stays.

If this is just out of your price range, but you really do feel the need to live in a movie house, then the large property in South Pasadena, Los Angeles, from the 1978 film Halloween was also recently listed for $1.8 million. You, too can recreate the thrills and spills of being chased around by a murderous escaped mental patient which, when you think about it, probably feels a lot like being an Outposter.

No pool? Oh, how positively poverty-like
