Lady Gaga has teased her take on the DC comics character Harley Quinn in the upcoming film “Joker: Folie à Deux”.
Out promoting the film version of her Chromatica Ball concert, the actress/singer says her version will be a different interpretation than prior ones. She tells Access Hollywood:
“You know my version of Harley is mine, and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters. I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun.”
That would suit Margot Robbie who previously expressed excitement over Gaga’s casting to MTV News in 2022 and said all she wanted for the character from the start is for the role to be passed on from actor to actor – not unlike Batman.
Gaga stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the Todd Phillips-directed sequel which is set to premiere in theaters on October 4th. Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Zazie Beetz co-star.
As previously indicated, the film is part of DC Elseworlds and so has no link to Peter Safran and James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe initiative.
“Gaga Chromatica Ball” is now streaming on Max. “Joker: Folie à Deux” opens in cinemas this Fall.
