Married directors Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne re-tell their painfully awkward love story in the 1st trailer for Warner Bros’ Am I OK?
The trailer opens on Lucy (Dakota Johnson), a 32-year-old Angeleno with a long history of unsuccessful dates with men. Despite the encouragement from her gay BFF Jane (Sonoya Mizuno), Lucy can’t shake the feeling that she’s destined to die alone.
Until one day, she has a huge realization: she’s gay.
And at 32, entering a new world of dating comes with its fair share of misadventures. With Jane by her side, and LA’s lesbian dating scene at her fingertips, Lucy decides to try and navigate this strange new life… and maybe finally find her soulmate along the way.

Let’s get this out of the way. I’m a straight man. I can’t speak to how accurate this trailer is to the coming-out experience.
But I DO know that directors Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne have painted an adorably awkward tapestry of LA life, and Dakota Johnson’s down-to-earth performance anchors a 21st century portrayal of adult dating, with a fresh LGBTQ+ coat of paint.
With charming dialogue, hilarious awkward humor, and a scene-stealing Sonoya Mizuno (playing against type as a snarky best friend), the 1st trailer for Am I OK signals a forthcoming feel-good hit of the summer.
Am I OK? will be released worldwide on MAX on July 12th, 2024, and stars Dakota Johnson, Sonoya Mizuno & Kiersey Clemons.
