Josh O’Connor (“Challengers,” “The Crown”) and Cailee Spaeny (“Civil War,” “Priscilla”) are said to be in talks for major roles in Rian Johnson’s upcoming third “Knives Out” film at Netflix.
What’s on Netflix broke the news, saying the pair are in addition to Lindsay Lohan and Tom Hardy who are also reportedly in talks to star. So far though, the only confirmed actor for the forthcoming sequel is Daniel Craig reprising his role as Benoit Blanc.
The third film, following the 2019 original and 2022 sequel “Glass Onion”, has been kept under wraps until last week when Netflix exclusively revealed the title for the film online – “Wake Up Dead Man”.
The streamer also confirmed a 2025 release with shooting to begin soon, with Johnson saying at the time “we’re about to go into production”. He’s not joking it seems as the outlet indicates filming for the new movie is targeting a start in about two weeks on June 10th.
“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” spent seven weeks on the streamer’s global top 10s, picking up 301 million hours watched. It went on to rack up 68.7 million views.
Spaeny will be seen later this year as the lead of “Alien: Romulus” whilst O’Connor recently scored raves for “La Chimera” and will be seen with Kate Winslet in “Lee” this Fall and Paul Mescal in “The History of Sound”.
