Not a lot of news is out there on a dead quiet Memorial Day holiday weekend, and so some rumors swirling around have gained some attention.
First up, DanielRPK is reporting that a new writer is currently being sought for Marvel Studios’ “Blade” to give the script yet another major overhaul.
The scooper indicates Marvel has finally nailed down the overall story, now it’s about polishing things up. As a result, filming is expected to continue as planned with shooting to take place later this year in Mexico or Brazil.
The film has gone through multiple directors and writers in the nearly five years since it was announced back in mid-2019. Nic Pizzolatto, Michael Green, Beau DeMayo, Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Michael Starrbury have all previously worked on script drafts.
A casting call has reportedly gone out for the male main villain, but character specifics weren’t revealed. Aaron Pierre bowed out of playing a villain role a few weeks back.
Officially the Yann Demange-directed “Blade” is still set for release November 2025 and if it does begin shooting this Fall it might make that time, then again Marvel’s 2025 slate is already overcrowded and if any of their films is getting pushed to 2026 – it’s likely this one.
The scooper adds that a writer and director is also being sought for a fifth “Thor” film to shoot in Fall 2025.
Also today, scooper Alex Perez (via CBM) indicates Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*” film isn’t so much a team-up film as it is “just a Black Widow sequel the same way Civil War was a Captain America sequel… Yelena’s handling Red Room remnants and then gets sidetracked with Thunderbolts*.”
Three characters from “Black Widow” appear here so the film being tied to “Black Widow” isn’t a shock. The inclusion of Bucky and U.S. Agent suggests strong “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” links, too.
