Filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s lucky charm actor Rahul Kohli (“iZombie,” “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “Midnight Mass”) has revealed he was being considered for a role in the upcoming Marvel Studios film “The Fantastic Four”.
Speaking in an interview with Salaam Nerds, he indicated he was up for the role of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards, a part that ultimately went to “The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal.
The interviewer asked him about the various fan casting and he spoke about them when the hosts suggested Mr. Fantastic. That’s when he suddenly became tight-lipped and the hosts realise this went beyond fan casting – something went down:
“Yeah…. I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it…. anyway…. I nearly said something I shouldn’t there. I didn’t get it, is the point. But on good days, I see the [John] Constantine one sort of flare up again. I love all of them.
On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, you’re wanted!’ People really want to see. How cool is that you’re the guy that people will shout out for anything. On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s all perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.”
Kohli was amongst fan suggestions for casting a while back. Others aside from Pascal who have actually been cast include Vanessa Kirby as Sue, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Econ Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. Also onboard are Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, Ralph Ineson as Galactus and the likes of Paul Walter-Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne.
“WandaVision” helmer Matt Shakman is directing from a script by Ric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. The film shoots this Summer for a July 25th 2025 release.
