Doctor Who
Showrunner Russell T. Davies has confirmed that the second season of Ncuti Gatwa’s run of “Doctor Who” has officially wrapped filming with an Instagram post congratulating cast and crew.
The news comes as the eight-episode first season just reached its halfway point in terms of airing this week with the episode “73 Yards”. Four more episodes will air through to the finale on June 22nd.
Home Alone
The iconic house from “Home Alone” is on sale. The five-bedroom luxury townhouse in Winnetka, Illinois is on sale for a price tag of $5.25 million. Though fully renovated and expanded in 2018, the home owners have kept the front exactly the same as depicted in the 1990 film. [Source: NBC Chicago]
The Smashing Machine
Current heavyweight Boxing Champion Oleksandr Usyk has signed on for Benny Safdie’s currently shooting film “The Smashing Machine” at A24 which stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
Johnson stars as legendary MMA fighter Mark Kerr in the film who struggles with addiction, winning, love, and friendship in the year 2000. No release date is yet set. [Source: A24]
56 Days
Avan Jogia and Dove Cameron will star in the James Wan-produced crime story meets erotic thriller series “Obsession” for Amazon Prime Video. The show is an adaptation of Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel “56 Days”.
The pair play two people who meet randomly in a supermarket and fall for each other fast. Just 56 days later, homicide investigators arrive at his apartment to find an unidentified and brutally murdered body intentionally decomposed. Who killed whom? [Source: Deadline]
Death By Lightning
Bradley Whitford, Shea Whigham, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Paula Malcomson and Tuppence Middleton have officially joined the historical drama miniseries “Death By Lightning” at Netflix.
“Game of Thrones” and “3 Body Problem” creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are producing the film about reluctant 20th president of the United States James Garfield (Michael Shannon) and his greatest admirer Charles Guiteau (Matthew Macfadyen) – the man who would come to kill him.
Nick Offerman and Betty Gilpin co-star in the series created and executive produced by Mike Makowsky. Matt Ross is attached to direct all episodes. [Source: Deadline]
