Sony Pictures and Wayfarer Studios released the first trailer for the Blake Lively-led drama “It Ends With Us” last Thursday, and its done the kind of numbers usually reserved for major tentpole films.
Analysts WaveMetrix says the film’s trailer garnered 128.1 million views in its first 24 hours, beating other high profile debuts like the first trailer of “Wicked” (112.9 million), “Barbie” (101.6 million), “The Marvels” (90.6 million) and “Challengers” (75 million).
Just under a week on, the trailer has reportedly racked up 222 million views. Justin Baldoni directs and co-stars in this first adaptation of a work by popular romance novelist Colleen Hoover.
Lively stars as Lily Bloom, a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business.
A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship.
When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.
Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj and Amy Morton co-star in the film which was penned by Christy Hall.
