“Homeland,” “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Asteroid City” actor Rupert Friend has scored a major role in the upcoming new “Jurassic World” feature at Universal Pictures.
Friend joins Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the cast of the film which is being penned by original “Jurassic Park” screenwriter David Koepp.
Plot details are under wraps but the film is said to not include any of the stars of prior installments and is being seen as a semi-reboot.
Gareth Edwards (“Rogue One”)e is directing the creature feature which is rapidly locking down its cast ahead of a mid-June start in London.
Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce and Steven Spielberg executive produces. Universal has already set a theatrical release of July 2nd 2025 and intends to stick to that date.
The casting comes as man-of-the-moment Glen Powell has revealed to THR that he was offered the film but passed on both it and a “Bourne Identity” update in the works at Universal.
