The Texas Ranger is hanging up his guns as The CW has cancelled the Jared Padalecki-led drama “Walker” after four seasons.
Padalecki shared the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday, saying “Walker will not be airing on [The] CW for a fifth season” and offering a message of gratitude to the fans, cast and crew.
The writing was on the wall over the weekend as, even with a renewal decision not being officially announced, sets for the series were being dismantled whilst crew were moving on to other jobs.
The cancellation comes even as “Walker” easily ranks No. 1 in total audience of the eight dramas that The CW has aired this TV season.
“Walker” was one of just four original The CW shows to be picked up back in May 2023 by the network’s new executives after Nexstar Media Group acquired majority ownership of The CW in August 2022.
“Superman & Lois” was picked up for a shortened fourth and final season which will air this Fall. Both “All American” and “All American: Homecoming” were also renewed for the 2023-24 season but TV Line adds that the spin-off may not return with the upcoming third season on July 8th potentially its last.
There’s also questions about “All American” itself which recently added two episodes to its current sixth season order to wrap up several storylines.
