Not long ago came word that Disney Pictures was very keen to work with “Elvis” and “Dune: Part Two” star Austin Butler.
At the time it was widely speculated that they wanted him for their live-action adaptation of 1997’s animated classic “Hercules”.
Now, a new report at DisInsider suggests the studio instead wants him for their upcoming reboot of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
Whether they’ll land him or not is another story. “Chernobyl” and “The Last of Us” show creator Craig Mazin previously confirmed he and prior ‘Pirates’ scribe Ted Elliot were co-writing the screenplay, but no director is attached at this point.
The last entry in the series was the fifth film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” which is more famous these days for the antics of star Johnny Depp in Australia whilst filming it than the actual movie itself.
It was only in late March this year that producer Jerry Bruckheimer finally confirmed the franchise is undergoing a full reboot.
