The other week came the news of Bryan Fuller’s exit from the “Friday the 13th” prequel series in development titled “Crystal Lake”.

At the time, Fuller said the studio would retool the project – opting to go in a ‘different direction’ with the project. Now that direction appears to have been revealed.

IGN reports that Horror, Inc. is expanding the franchise into a new era with the announcement of ‘Jason Universe’.

New Friday the 13th ‘activations’ will span entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise and more with announcements to be made across the year.

Robert Barsamian, President of Horror, Inc., says in a statement: “For decades, Jason shocked and thrilled audiences who kept coming back for more. We’re excited to work with Victor Miller and Marc Toberoff on new projects we’ll announce in the coming months.”

Barsamian is an executive producer on “Crystal Lake” and served in the same capacity on 2017’s “Friday the 13th: The Game”. Miller was the screenwriter of the original “Friday the 13th” movie and reclaimed the domestic rights to the film in 2021.

The new official site for this initiative is up at Jasonuniverse.com.
