Warner Bros. Pictures has announced a number of key release dates for upcoming major tentpole films from the studio.
First up, the DC Universe film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” has set a June 26th 2026 release date. Milly Alcock (“House of the Dragon”) stars in the lead role in the film which will mark the second official film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe following Gunn’s own “Superman” launching July next year.
Craig Gillespie will direct the film which is an adaptation of Tom King’s 2022 comic series. Ana Nogueira adapted the script which is expected to be a slightly darker take than prior incarnations. Alcock will appear in another DC project before making her big-screen debut.
Next, an October 24th 2025 release date has been set for the “Mortal Kombat” sequel which will also score an IMAX release. The follow-up to the 2021 reboot completed filming a little while back in Australia.
The sequel’s cast sees Karl Urban, Tati Gabrielle and Damon Herriman joining the fray along with returnees like Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada.
Third comes “Barbarian” director Zach Cregger’s new horror film “Weapons” which will launch in cinemas on January 16th 2026. Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams and Benedict Wong star with story details under wraps/
Then, Drew Hancock’s “Companion” has reportedly set a January 10th 2025 release date. Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, and Rupert Friend star in the film whose plot is under wraps.
Finally, Bleecker Street and ShivHans have scored U.S. rights to the Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun-led cosmic love story “Love Me” written and directed by Sam and Andy Zuchero. Plans are for a wide theatrical release in early 2025 for the movie which premiered at Sundance.
