Actor Lee Jung-jae has indicated that the second season of what is still Netflix’s biggest hit to date, “Squid Game,” will be arriving on the streamer this December.
Lee indicated that’s the release window for the new season in an interview with Business Insider to promote his role in the upcoming “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte” which launches June 4th.
It follows on from director Hwang Dong-hyuk indicating the project was still filming earlier this year with a first look clip of Lee’s Seong Gi-hun character on the hunt for someone.
The first season premiered back in September 2021 and became a global phenomenon – pulling in over 1.65 billion viewing hours in 28 days and to this day remains the most-watched series ever on Netflix.
Expected back are Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun, Lee Byung-hun as the black masked Front Man, Wi Ha-jun as police detective Hwang Jun-ho, and Gong Yoo as the recruiter.
New cast include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk , Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won and Won Ji-an.
