It’s a go, the sequel to beloved 1996 golf comedy “Happy Gilmore” is underway at Netflix with original star Adam Sandler set to return.
Sandler both starred in and co-wrote the Dennis Dugan-directed original sports comedy which remains one of his most famous works.
In the film, his Happy Gilmore is a hockey player with anger management issues who discovers he has a talent for golf. Happy joins the golf tour circuit to win money to save his grandma’s house.
He also faces off against an arrogant golfing pro named Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald). The supporting cast also included Julie Bowen, Carl Weathers and Bob Barker.
McDonald stirred up talk of a sequel in March saying Sandler had revealed the first draft of a script to him.
The streamer has now officially announced the project as part of its upfront presentation to advertisers on Wednesday afternoon in New York.
