The first official photos have been released from the second season of HBO’s highly acclaimed TV series adaptation of the award-winning PlayStation video game series “The Last of Us”.
The shots showcase older versions of both leading characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey). The new season is expected to be based on the first half of “The Last of Us Part II” video game.
As such it appears the shot of Joel appears to be a shot from the pivotal barn dance sequence in Jackson. The shot of Ellie comes from the early stages of the game in the scenes set prior to Seattle.
The new season has been in production since the end of January in Canada with filming expected to continue through much of the year ahead of an airing sometime in 2025.
Also starring are Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Manzino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, and Catherine O’Hara in an undisclosed role.
The series is written and created by Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann, who are also executive producing along with Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan.
Druckmann, Mazin, also direct episodes along with Peter Hoar, Mark Mylod, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Stephen Williams, and Kate Herron.
