Following a pair of duelling trailers back in March, a proper trailer is now out for the highly anticipated second season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” spin-off series “House of the Dragon”.
The series was able to continue in production throughout both strikes as the scripts were all done before the writer’s strike began. Its cast was part of Actors Equity and not SAG-AFTRA.
Shooting on the new season took place in England, Spain, & Wales and goes for a shorter eight-episode run with no time jumps this time. A third season has already been mapped out.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series chronicles the rise and the downfall of the Targaryens – the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria. Events unfold three centuries prior to “Game of Thrones”.
The series stars Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Graham McTavish, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Matthew Needham, Bill Patterson, Gavin Spokes, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Savannah Steyn, and Theo Nate.
Gayle Rankin, Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim join the cast for the second season.
“House of the Dragon” returns on June 16th.
