Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed their plans for the upcoming Annecy animation festival which will include a big event – the world premiere of “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie”.
A new still from the film has been released and can be seen above. The project marks the first fully animated non-compilation feature film in the Looney Tunes franchise to receive a theatrical release.
The film begins with a series of antics at the bubblegum factory. In the wake of this, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig discover a secret alien plot to take over the Earth via mind-control. The duo must work together to stop the aliens, while trying to avoid driving each other insane.
Pete Browngardt makes his feature directorial debut on the film which was written by Kevin Costello. Eric Bauza, Candi Milo, Peter MacNicol, Fred Tatasciore, and Laraine Newman lend their voices to this spin-off of the recent “Looney Tunes Cartoons” series which ran on HBO Max from 2020-2023.
Other Warners events at Annecy include the unveiling of the first footage from “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” film, an early look at DC’s “Creature Commandos” TV series, and a look at “The Amazing World of Gumball” reboot.
