Disney celebrated the 25th anniversary of “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” by re-releasing the film in theaters last weekend, and offering some exclusive footage from the upcoming Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte.”
That footage, which leaked online and was quickly taken down, showed off a martial arts fight between Mae (Amandala Stenberg) and Jedi Master Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss) in a cantina.
A shortened version of that clip has now officially gone online in the form of a 30-second spot for the series which is available at the article’s bottom.
Set around fifty years before the events of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” and towards the end of the High Republic era, the live-action series follows a former Jedi Padawan and her one-time Master.
An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.
Joonas Suotamo, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Dean-Charles Chapman, Margarita Levieva, Charlie Barnett and Rebecca Henderson also star.
The series hails from creator Leslye Headland and will premiere its eight episodes exclusively on the Disney+ service starting June 4th.
