Hidden within one news report at THR of Sigourney Weaver’s casting in “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie over the weekend has come an update on Marvel Studios’ “Fantastic Four” feature.
Specifically it has been indicated the project, which has already been slated to a July 25th 2025 release, won’t begin shooting until the end of July this year exactly one year before hitting cinemas.
That incredibly tight timeline for a VFX-heavy tentpole blockbuster has, according to CBM led to concerns online that the film won’t be making the currently slated release date and will be delayed again. Adding to this is Disney’s recently confirmed mandate to release only two, at most three, Marvel films per year.
Right now four MCU films are set for 2025 – “Captain America: Brave New World” on February 14th, “Thunderbolts*” on May 5th, “The Fantastic Four” on July 25th and “Blade” on November 7th.
If other rumors are any indication, we may also get another “Spider-Man” as early as late next year. In other words, at least one film has to move with the likeliest scenario being the still to go into production “Blade” shifting to early 2026 with F4 then taking that November date.
The report tied to Pedro Pascal who stars in both film projects and has recently been filming the second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us”.
