Marvel Studios’ animated revival series “X-Men ’97” has seen several characters who’ve appeared in the MCU show up on screen including Captain America and Spider-Man.
However show creator and former showrunner Beau DeMayo has confirmed that one specific character was deemed as a no go area – Deadpool.
Asked where the character is at by a fan, DeMayo responded on X saying: “he was off-limits”. Disney put a foot down not allowing the character to appear – not unexpected with the live-action “Deadpool and Wolverine” film coming in July.
The comment comes ahead of the show’s season finale which will air on Wednesday. The series is in production on a second season and is already considering a third.
Two months on since he was fired from the series, it’s still not clear why DeMayo was let go with details under wraps. Producer Brad Winderbaum added to EW that DeMayo’s exit was more a “we parted ways” situation.
