By The life of the legendary Sir Christopher Lee is set to be revealed in an upcoming documentary film “The Life and Deaths of Christopher Lee”.
Filmmaker Jon Spira had access to the late Lee’s scrapbooks and 100 interviews he did for the British Film Institute’s library and conducted interviews with friends, family members and famous directors.
Lee, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 93, starred in more than 250 films over an eight decade span with numerous memorable roles.
These included Dracula in the Hammer horror films, Count Dooku in the “Star Wars” prequels, Lord Summerisle in “The Wicker Man,” Scaramanga in Bond film “The Man with the Golden Gun,” and the wizard Saruman in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
Lee also had a military career during World War Two that remains mysterious but reportedly involved helping track down Nazi war criminals for the secret service.
The film is narrated by a string puppet of Christopher Lee, voiced by Peter Serafinowicz, and made by the team behind Wes Anderson’s animated movies.
A stop-motion sequence has also been made for the film and is directed by “Sandman” illustrator Dave McKean.
