It wouldn’t be the end of a week in May without a whole bunch of TV series cancellations.
First up, Apple TV+ has cancelled the Noomi Rapace and Jonathan Banks-led eight-episode sci-fi psychological thriller series “Constellation,” marking a rare one-and-done for the streamer. Rapace played an astronaut who returns to Earth after a disaster in space – only to discover that key pieces of her life seem to be missing..
Second is the news that ABC has cancelled the Gina Rodriguez-led comedy “Not Dead Yet” after just two seasons. The series has been averaging 2.7 million total viewers, down 21% from its first season.
Then, Hulu has cancelled its Sinclair Daniel-led workplace drama “The Other Black Girl” after one season that released in its entirety back in September. Adapted from Zakiya Dalila Harris’ bestselling novel, it followed an editorial assistant who discovers her workplace revival is actually a secret cult recruiter.
Next, animated sci-fi series “Scavengers Reign” has been cancelled at Max after one season. The show will remain on Max but also begin streaming on Netflix on May 31st. It followed the surviving crew of a damaged deep space freighter who are stranded on a beautiful yet unforgiving planet.
Adding to that, FOX has cancelled animated series “Housebroken” which has aired two seasons on the network. The second season wrapped back in August last year with an average of 1 million viewers. That series followed a group of neighborhood pets and stray animals as they work through their issues inside and outside their therapy group.
Finally, Netflix has officially renewed its teen comedy-drama series “Heartbreak High” for a third season which they also confirm will be its last. The renewal comes a month after the Australian young adult series second season debuted.
