20th Century Studios and Disney’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is reportedly on its way towards a $125 million global debut this weekend.

The film is sticking to its projections of at least a $52-55 million domestic start. A $70 million or more overseas haul will be added on top of that.

That would put it on a similar start to the launches of the last two ‘Apes’ films, even with China visibly less enthusiastic for Apes this time out.

Domestically, the film has landed a relatively mixed ‘B’ CinemaScore with audiences, suggesting they are not warming to it the way they did the prior trilogy, which all scored A- with their CinemaScore.

Sticking to the domestic front, the second weekend of “The Fall Guy” will see the action-comedy-romance crowdpleaser fall a very decent 48% to garner $14.4 million, suggesting the film will have needed legs after its rather disastrous start.

“Challengers” will come in third with a third week drop of just 34% and a three-day haul of $5 million. Horror tale “Tarot” is fourth with $3.2 million, and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is fifth with $2.6 million.
