Veteran British actor Ralph Ineson has scored the key role of Marvel universe villain Galactus in the upcoming “The Fantastic Four” film at Marvel Studios.
In the comics, Galactus is a planet-devouring force of nature and is depicted as a gigantic humanoid with signature purple armor and helmet. He was previously seen on the big screen in “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” albeit only shown in the form of a gigantic spatial cloud.
In the comics the character is a cosmic entity who consumes planets to sustain his life force – operating without regard to the morality or judgments of mortal beings. Frequently accompanied by a herald, the character has appeared as both antagonist and protagonist in central and supporting roles in the comics.
Ineson’s career has run for decades and has ranged from the “Harry Potter” film franchise to “The Witch,” “The Northman” and the more recent “The First Omen” prequel film.
Those starring include Perdro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as John Storm/Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach Ben Grimm/The Thin, Julia Garner as a female Silver Surfer and both Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich in undisclosed roles.
Matt Shakman is directing the feature which is casting up ahead of a planned mid-summer shoot in England. The story is expected to be set in the 1960s, the era when the super-team was first created.
