Peacock has announced in a press release they have renewed Seth MacFarlane’s comedy “Ted” for a second season. The order comes four months after the show premiered back in January on the service.

All seven episodes were released at once, leading to the service’s biggest single day in terms of engagement on the Saturday of the show’s launch weekend. It became Peacock’s most-watched original title to date following its premiere.

The show serves as a prequel to the two R-rated Mark Wahlberg-led comedy films from Universal Pictures.

It’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts, with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach), and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham).

Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.

McFarlane serves as an executive producer on the series along with directing and writing. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh also serve as writers as well as showrunners.
