Taylor Sheridan’s espionage thriller series “Special Ops: Lioness” has been officially renewed for a second season by Paramount+ and is dropping the “Special Ops” part of its name.
The series is inspired by an actual U.S. Military program that follows the life of Joe (Zoe Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror.
Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman co-star in the series that had the streaming service’s most watched worldwide series premiere on launch day.
In all, nearly six million total viewers checked in on the show in its first week across Paramount+ globally and via the Paramount Network linear premiere.
Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton and Hannah Love Lanier also star in the series backed by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.
No word as yet when the new season will begin production or potentially air.
