The trailer for MaXXXine was interesting. Ti West and Mia Goth had a trilogy set, starting with X, then Pearl and the last one, MaXXXine, which is due out later this year.
New images are now online, one from USA Today, with Goth at an 80s party.
Then Entertainment Weekly dropped a few, including Kevin Back, Elizabeth Debicki and Sophie Thatcher.
Goth is an odd one, I think she’s quite pretty, but at the same time, looks like she could murder you at any point. The team-up of Goth and West has been pretty good so far. Both X and Pearl have done fairly well and this third movie, MaXXXine, looks to be in the same vibe.
The plot of MaXXXine is:
In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.
The movie has been described as a good ol’ fashioned whodunit slasher. Goth has said it’s more like a “superhero movie”, saying:
“Maxine, as a character, has come a long way. She’s a survivor, she’s gone through a lot. When we meet her again, in this new world that she’s in, she’s really fought for everything that she has, and she’s not about to give that up. She’s going to fight for what she has. She’s a badass. There’s a strength to her. And she’s a really proactive, determined, focused woman. She goes after what she wants, and she’s not really going to take no for an answer.“
As we mentioned before, West and Goth have spoken about a frnachise of the series. I’m guessing they will have to see how this movie does.
