Apple TV+ has premiered the teaser trailer for “Presumed Innocent,” its upcoming limited series adaptation of the famed 1987 novel by Scott Turow. The series premieres June 12th.
The story begins with a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when one of its own – fervent prosecutor Rozat ‘Rusty’ Sabich (Gyllenhaal) – is suspected of the rape and murder of his close colleague Carolyn Polhemus.
Ruth Negga co-stars as Barbara Sabich, an artist, gallerist, mother and Rusty’s wife whose life is upended by the scandal and the highly publicized trial that comes with it.
The tale explores obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.
The property was previously adapted into the 1990 film of the same name starring Harrison Ford, Bonnie Bedelia, Brian Dennehy, Raul Julia, Paul Winfield, Jeffrey Wright and Greta Scacchi.
Gyllenhaal, David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams, Matthew Tinker, Rachel Rusch Rich, Sharr White, and Dustin Thomason executive produce. David E. Kelley adapted the script and serves as showrunner. Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television produce.
