Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly in early talks to acquire the film adaptation of the comic title “Avengelyne” in a seven-figure deal – and the project is also getting an upgrade.

The other week came the news that filmmaker/actress Olivia Wilde is attached to direct a feature film adaptation of “Deadpool” co-creator Rob Liefeld’s 1995 comic .

Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara’s production company LuckyChap is producing and as they have a first look deal at Warners, naturally the studio got the first bite.

In the time since there’s been some changes. First up, screenwriter Tony McNamara (“Poor Things,” “The Favorite”) has come onboard the project according to Deadline

More unexpected, though, is that Robbie herself is reportedly set to star as the title character in the film. It marks the second big deal of the week for Warners following their acquisition of the Chris Farley biopic starring Paul Walter Hauser.

Former Vampirella model Cathy Christian co-created the “Avengelyne” comic about a fallen warrior angel stripped of all her angelic abilities, other than her great strength and her blood which can be used as a weapon or a miracle.

Avengelyne uses her powers to fight demons on earth and is being groomed to be humankind’s last hope in a coming Armageddon. In the film she is entrusted to find and protect The One, a person who is the key to protecting humanity from demons and other monsters.

Simon Kinberg will also produce the project.
