Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes arrives in movie theaters in a little over a week, and as it approaches 20th Century Studios and Disney have dropped a final trailer.
William H. Macy, Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Dichen Lachman, and Kevin Durand all-star in this fourth movie since the relaunch. This is set nearly 300 years after War for the Planet of the Apes and shows Caesar’s legacy, with ape society thriving while humanity has continued to regress.
However, just like with humanity, it seems that it is not all sunshine and enlightenment for the apes. Some groups have moved away from the teachings of Caesar, and others attempt to build fiefdoms. The movie follows the events that unfold when one ape leader begins to enslave other groups in an effort to find leftover human technology.
An ape who watched his clan be enslaved undertakes a perilous journey to freedom with a young human woman who may be the key to all this.
Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison penned the script for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Principal photography began in October 2022 at Disney Studios Australia in Sydney, with funding partially provided by the Australian Government under the working title Forbidden Zone. Filming concluded on February 15, 2023. Director Wes Ball filmed primarily on location using motion-capture technology.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is slated to open on May 10th.
