Following the news this morning that he’s set to join the cast, veteran actor Jeff Bridges has been photographed reading his own personalised script for “TRON: Ares” currently shooting in Canada.
Bridges indicated he begins filming his role on Saturday. The actor was the star of the original 1982 film as Kevin Flynn, a man who gets sucked inside the digital world.
He returned for the 2010 sequel “Tron: Legacy” which saw Garrett Hedlund as his adult son trying to find his dad – only to also end up on the grid. Hedlund and ‘Legacy’ co-star Olivia Wilde aren’t expected back.
The new film will star Jared Leto as Ares, a computer program who has escaped the grid and come to our real world. Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Gillian Anderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Sarah Desjardins co-star.
Joachim Rønning (“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil”) is directing from a script by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. The film is slated to open October 2025.
