Amazon is betting big on its new Alex Cross TV series.
Amazon’s Prime Video has ordered a second season of “Cross,” a new drama that has yet to set a date to air its first season.
Aldis Hodge (“City on a Hill,” “The Invisible Man”) takes on the role of detective and forensic psychologist Alex Cross, a character from James Patterson’s best-selling novel series.
Wes Chatham, Matthew Lillard and Jeanine Mason have also been set to join the cast for the second season. It’s not clear which book either season is based on.
It’s not clear what first season cast members will return. That cast includes Ryan Eggold, Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Johnny Ray Gill, Eloise Mumford and Siobhan Murphy.
Cross has been made famous on film before with Morgan Freeman playing him in “Kiss the Girls” and “Along Came a Spider” whilst Tyler Perry played him in “Alex Cross”.
Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television, who produce “Reacher” and “Jack Ryan” for the streamer, are behind the project.
Ben Watkins (“Truth Be Told,” “Burn Notice”) is the showrunner and executive produces with Patterson, Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, Craig Siebels, Bill Robinson, Bill Bost, Patrick Santa, David Ellison and Dana Goldberg.
