Sony has shaken up its release date schedule with a number of major delays this evening.

First up, Sony and Marvel’s “Kraven the Hunter” has been pushed back from a Labor Day weekend opening of August 30th to a December 13th release – making it the only R-rated movie during the holidays.

In its new slot it will also snag IMAX and PLF screens. It marks the second major delay for the title which was originally slated to open late 2023 before moving back almost a year to that August slot.

Also moving out is the reboot of “The Karate Kid” starring Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio and Daniel Wu. Originally slated for December 13th this year, its now gone back almost six months to a May 30th 2025 release – putting it out in the height of next Summer.

The delay also makes certain that the new “The Karate Kid” will follow in the wake of the sixth and final season of “Cobra Kai” on Netflix.

Also joining the calendar is the Blumhouse title “They Listen” which will take that late August four-day Labor Day weekend this year.

Legendary/Sony’s animated feature “Animal Friends” has also locked in a date of August 15th 2025.
