“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane says he’s still committed to doing more with his sci-fi series “The Orville” despite plenty of other indicators that the series is dead.
Officially the show hasn’t been cancelled, but there has been no word on its fate since the third season “The Orville: New Horizons” aired back in June 2022.
Last year MacFarlane’s co-star Adrianne Palicki indicated that she’s done with the show and cast contracts have expired. Others have hinted that a fourth season was possible.
MacFarlane, out promoting the “Ted” series back in January, said at the time: “All I can tell you is that there is no official death certificate for ‘The Orville’ It is still with us. I can’t go any further than that at the moment. There are too many factors.”
This week, during an appearance on The Mike Henry Show (via CBR), MacFarlane addressed where things stand saying: “The Orville was a passion project, I say ‘was’ but I don’t really mean ‘was’ because there will be more.”
Just how he can guarantee that isn’t clear as the show has not yet been renewed for a fourth season or a potential wrap-up movie for a streamer.
J. Lee, Penny Johnson Jerald, Peter Macon, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman, Jessica Szohr and Anne Winters co-starred in the series.
