A new report has indicated that George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is set to be the longest film in the franchise to date.
Insider Cryptic4KQual, who is known for 4K trailer release and runtime/rating news, reports that the film’s final runtime clocks in at 148 minutes (2 hours and 28 minutes).
That’s considerably more than 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” which clocked in at a straight 120 minutes, or the three prior “Mad Max” films, which were all well under two hours.
In addition, Film Ratings reports that the movie has officially been given an R-rating by the Motion Picture Association for “sequences of strong violence, and grisly images.”
The news comes as the film’s star Anya Taylor-Joy says she got advice from her “The Menu” co-star Nic Hoult on starring in the film (he was in ‘Fury Road’).
She tells Total Film that it’s “a type of filmmaking where it’s all stitched together so surgically that you can feel a bit lost in it”. So what was Hoult’s advice? “trust George [Miller]”.
The film will have its Australian premiere in early May ahead of a world premiere in Cannes mid-May and a theatrical release around the globe on or around May 24th.
