The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in a new adventure inspired by the Nickelodeon series and games such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time with TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants.
The 2017 Arcade classic has been upgraded with more stages and Boss Battles and allows 1-4 players to take on legions of enemies as their favorite Turtle(s) and collect and deploy various weapons, power-ups, and special abilities along the way.
The controls are very simple to learn and in no time players will be able to unleash a series of attacks as they encounter numerous enemies in a variety of locations ranging from Sewers, Coney Island, Dimension X, and more.
The gameplay and graphics are a bit retro but are faithful to the game that inspired it and it brought back several nostalgic moments of playing the original arcade game and provided a great opportunity for my wife and I to play through the game as a team and alternate characters to find the one that best suited our gameplay.
While the Turtles have different weapons, the melee style does not vary greatly save for those who prefer a more up-close attack to a ranged attack as I like to use Donatello and his Staff to take on hordes while others may prefer to get more up-close and personal.
My only real concern was the length of the game as with six levels of play; the game can be completed in a short time as most levels only take 15-30 minutes at most for players to complete.
That being said; the game was enjoyable if a brief dose of nostalgia and presented enough fun and nostalgia to make it a winning gaming experience for fans.
