“Masters of the Air,” “The Boys in the Boat” and “Fantastic Beasts” star Callum Turner has scored the lead role in the TV series adaptation of William Gibson ground-breaking sci-fi novel “Neuromancer”.
The ten-episode series hails from co-creators Graham Roland (“Dark Winds,” “Jack Ryan”) and JD Dillard (“Sleight,” “The Outsider”), with Roland serving as showrunner and Dillard directing the pilot. Both executive produce.
The series will follow a damaged but expert super-hacker named Case (Turner), who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly, an assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.
“Neuromancer” is notable for being the most famous early cyberpunk novel and delving into the issues of cyberspace, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and cheap ubiquitous technology long before these things became an integral part of modern culture.
Various attempts have been made over the past few decades to adapt the book into a film with none getting out of the development stage.
Also executive producing the ten-episode series for Skydance Television and Anonymous Content are Gibson, Zack Hayden, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Drake, Adel ‘Future’ Nur, and Jason Shrier.
