American-Danish-Korean actress Sandra Yi Sencindiver (“Foundation,” “The Killing”) has joined Noah Hawley’s “Alien” series for FX.
The prequel series, currently filming in Thailand, will be set towards the end of this century – a few years before “Prometheus” and three decades before the “Alien” film.
The series will mark the first project in the franchise to take place on Earth and reportedly deals with the emergence of the story’s infamous Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race between corporations to create new android life.
Sencindiver reportedly appears across multiple episodes and will play a senior member of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. In addition, her character has scope to grow in future seasons.
The series also star Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, David Rysdahl, Babou Cessay, Erana James, Lily Newmark and Adrian Edmonson.
The project, which is designed to be an ongoing series, has been dubbed an “imaginative reimagining” of the franchise which gets a new film entry this Summer with “Alien: Romulus” that takes place twenty years after the events of “Alien”.
Filming on the series is expected to continue until the summer ahead of a 2025 airing.
