Netflix has released Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver” and with that release, the director has set a new record for himself.

This second part of Snyder’s sci-fi epic has landed the worst reviews of his career going by Rotten Tomatoes.

The film is currently pulling in just 17% from 46 reviews – easily beating out the 21% of the first part and the 22% of “Sucker Punch” which were his lowest-scoring films prior to this.

Audience scores aren’t much better and stand at just 44% positive. Whether these scores will be improved by his longer R-rated director’s cut of both parts – it’s a wait and see.

Here’s a sampling of review quotes:

“If The Scargiver is shorter, more straightforward, and generally less of a headache than Part One: A Child of Fire, its failures are twice as baffling. This was supposed to be the easy part.” – David Ehrlich, IndieWire

“Even if a superior version of ‘Rebel Moon’ does come out eventually, that doesn’t make these versions any better, and they’re the only versions we have right now.” – William Bibbiani, The Wrap

“While an improvement on Part One, a feisty cast and genuinely impressive action scenes don’t make up for the emotional void at the heart of the film. Snyder’s fans will eat it up, everyone else will be left wanting something more substantial.” – Linda Marric, HeyUGuys

“A delirious, pulpy mishmash of knockoffs, “The Scargiver” isn’t good, but it sure is something.” – Amy Nicholson, New York Times

“More is often less in “Rebel Moon—Part 2: The Scargiver,” not only when it comes to the movie’s sweaty, vein-activating performances, but also its over-exaggerated and under-choreographed action scenes.” – Simon Abrams, RogerEbert.com

“Set to Tom Holkenborg’s bombastic score, Gregorian chanting, and endless pew-pew-pews, Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver roars and rampages, yet its drama can’t match its aesthetic pomposity.” – Nick Schager, Daily Beast

“But as the film drags on and goes all in on its “Lord of the Rings” war ambitions, any and all of the goodwill generated by the first hour of “Part Two” is replaced by some of the most peak Zack Snyder moments in his entire filmography.” – Jeremy Mathal, Slashfilm

“Not only is The Scargiver not Snyder’s The Empire Strikes Back, but it’s even worse than Part One. Its ambitions have gotten infinitely smaller, as though it is all moving backward. That this occurs in slow motion just makes it that much more exhausting.” – Chae Hutchinson, Collider

In the sequel, Kora (Sofia Boutella) and her revolutionary recruits face an enemy they thought they’d defeated: Admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) and the Imperium legion he commands.

It will take all of their combined skills to free the villagers of Veldt from the grip of Motherworld – and to free themselves from their own tragic pasts.

As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.

Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, and Anthony Hopkins all return whilst Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurosson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, Elise Duffy, Sky Yang, and Charlotte Maggi also star.
