The axe has swung on two primetime series at CBS.
Both Skylar Astin and Marcia Gay Harden’s mother-son legal drama “So Help Me Todd,” and the original “CSI” revival “CSI: Vegas” have been cancelled.
The recent second season of ‘Todd’ and third season of “CSI: Vegas” have both been averaging 6.2 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating (in Live+7). ‘Todd’ has been matching its first season’s numbers, ‘Vegas’ actually saw an uptick in its third season thanks to a new timeslot after recently launched hit “Tracker”.
However, both axed shows were the lowest-rated of the fourteen dramas CBS aired this season in terms of overall viewers, and beat only “NCIS: Sydney” (which has been renewed) in the key demo.
With ‘Todd’ it’s an unfortunate ending as the upcoming second season finale on May 16th will reportedly end on a big cliffhanger – one that will now not be resolved.
The issue is many of CBS’ other dramas have been overperforming of late, which has led to the tough calls regarding cancellations.
