Paramount Pictures is set to debut the first trailer for its animated feature “Transformers One” this Thursday, and is doing so with a rather unique launch… in space.
The event begins 6am US-PT with a live-streamed countdown that captures the trailer’s ascent to 125,000 feet above Earth. When it hits its peak, it will offer viewers a special introduction by the film’s stars Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry who voice Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively.
The stream will come live from the official Transformers Movie social media accounts and Paramount’s YouTube channel, along with Hemsworth’s own Instagram account.
The film itself dives into the origins of the Autobot and Decepticon rivalry on Cybertron, exploring the early friendship and eventual fallout of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Also lending their voices are Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.
The film is directed by Josh Cooley with a script penned by Andrew Barrer, Steve Desmond, and Gabriel Ferrari. Lorenzo di Bonaventura produces the animated prequel which could serve as the start of a potential trilogy.
“Transformers One” is slated for a nationwide release on September 12th.
